This weekend, Sam, the Bucklebury Estate Ranger, was working with Sundew Ecology and the Hampshire Amphibian and Reptile Group (yes, I know we're in Berkshire!) to lay out about 50 metal sheet 'refugia' across the common.

These will help us to monitor the population of reptiles on the heathland areas, espcially the rare Adder - the UK's only venemous snake. The reptiles like to rest under the sheets as they are nice and warm in the spring sunshine.
If you see any of these metal sheets, please leave well alone - you never know what is lurking underneath!
If you would like to help us monitor these beautiful but disappearing animals, you can find out more and get involved at: https://groups.arguk.org/hiwarg
